Stó:lō Tribal Council is a non-profit Society that was incorporated in July 2004. There are 11 Board of Directors in which 8 are appointed by each respective village and 3 elected Tribal Chiefs. The 3 Tribal Chiefs hold the position of President, Vice-President and Treasurer and serve a three year term.
Community members 18 years of age or older from each village are eligible to vote in the election.
Stolo Tribal Council is a member driven organization to support good governance and promotes members to get involved to achieve consensus on various matters that may arise in the territory. It is the responsibility of our leaders and membership to be “Letsemot” (one heart and mind) when decisions need to be made.
The Board of Directors and staff are required to uphold the values of honesty, humility, integrity and respect.
